Selena Gomez is considering a permanent hiatus from her music career, signaling a potential shift toward focusing exclusively on her film and television pursuits. The accomplished singer, who gained prominence through Disney Channel's Wizards of Waverly Place, suggested that she might release only one more album before retiring from music.
In an upcoming episode of the SmartLess podcast, Gomez shared her sentiments about wanting to find a sense of stability as she grows older. Despite acknowledging the possibility of one more album, she expressed a preference for prioritizing acting in the future. When the podcast hosts suggested she could pursue both passions simultaneously, Gomez acknowledged the idea but emphasized her desire to take a break due to fatigue.
Gomez, whose entertainment journey began with Barney & Friends at the age of 10, has juggled various roles, including Alex in Wizards of Waverly Place, Mavis in Hotel Transylvania, and a role in the Emmy-winning series Only Murders in the Building. Concurrently, she embarked on tours and released numerous studio albums, singles, and music videos, including the recent song "Single Soon" in August.
However, managing both acting and music careers has taken a toll on Gomez's health. She revealed a past struggle that led her to a mental institute and resulted in the cancellation of one of her tours. Gomez admitted that the pressure of constant work served as a distraction from personal challenges.
Reflecting on her unexpected journey into music, Gomez credited Disney, describing it as a "machine" that compelled her to learn how to sing for the theme song of Wizards of Waverly Place. While she initially aspired to be an actress, her foray into singing became a significant aspect of her career. Gomez acknowledged her storytelling ability in music, even though she doesn't consider herself the best singer. She expressed a genuine passion for creating songs and telling stories through her music.
